National Basketball Retired Players Association

Mission

The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) is the official alumni association for the NBA. Our mission: design meaningful programs and partnerships that enable these legends to positively impact communities and youth through basketball.

Approach

Ideaction did a thorough investigation of current programing and events to identify programmatic assets, gaps and impact. Working closely with leadership we designed a focused approach that built on key partnerships with organizations including the National Urban League and the Police Athletic Association and developed a compelling Case for Support that leveraged additional resources to fill gaps and expand impact. Additionally, we packaged up their community impact work, developing the story around “Legends Care,” and identified and implemented strategies to engage the membership, the business community, and the philanthropic community in their work.

Impact

This work is in the tactical execution stage. We have succeeded in developing clear partnership engagement opportunities, addressing programmatic gaps, and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders. At this point we are conducting the outreach and engagement effort.
